Information Visitors Provide
Search Terms
When a visitor enters a name, location, or similar query into a search tool, that query is sent to the third-party provider that operates the tool. Teton County Inmate Population does not keep its own separate log of those search terms.
Messages
If a visitor sends an email or contact message, the message and return contact details may be kept long enough to respond and manage the request. Those messages are not shared outside the organization unless a legal obligation requires it.
Automatic Technical Data
Like most websites, each page load may create technical records that help operate and troubleshoot the site.
- Internet Protocol address.
- Browser name, version, and settings.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages opened and approximate time spent on them.
- Referring website, when a browser provides it.
- Date and time stamps.
Cookies
Cookies and similar browser storage may be used to understand site traffic, remember basic preferences, and support analytics or advertising. A visitor can block cookies in the browser, but some tools may work differently when cookies are disabled.
How Information Is Used
- To keep the site available, readable, and reasonably fast.
- To pass search requests to the provider selected by the visitor.
- To understand which Teton County and Idaho record pages visitors use most.
- To diagnose errors, broken links, security events, and performance issues.
- To support advertising that may be based on general interests or browsing activity.
Outside Websites and Advertising
The site links to jail information, sheriff and court resources, Idaho Department of Correction pages, government portals, and third-party search tools. After a visitor follows an outside link, that destination's privacy policy and data practices control the visit.
Advertising partners may use their own cookies, pixels, or similar tools to measure ads or personalize ads across websites. That tracking occurs on the partners' systems, not as an official Teton County or Madison County Jail service.
Who May Receive Information
Personal information is not sold as a mailing list or standalone data product. It may be disclosed to the categories below when needed for site operation or legal compliance.
- Search partners that process a query submitted through their tools.
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and page performance.
- Advertising networks that deliver or measure ads.
- Law enforcement, courts, regulators, or government bodies when required by subpoena, court order, or another valid legal demand.
Security
Reasonable security practices are used to protect information handled through the site. No website, server, email system, or internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure, so the site cannot promise breach-proof protection.
Users Under 18
This site is intended for adult users. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has submitted information, a parent or guardian may request review or deletion through the contacts page.
Data Rights
- Ask for a copy of personal information held by the site.
- Request correction of inaccurate information provided directly by the visitor.
- Ask for deletion when retention is no longer needed or legally required.
- Opt out of certain processing where applicable law gives that right.
